Saturday the 21st

This Saturday was typical. People making great things.

Chris made this tote from Lily's Sugar and Creme. When she changed skeins she tried to match colors a bit. The result is this vary interesting color pattern. Using variegated yarn in crochet can be tricky in crochet, but Chris got a great look.

One of the nice things about coming to groups of yarn enthusiasts is learning something new. Chris picked up a new pattern in crochet from Theresa for an afghan. Theresa was also thrilled to teach someone else something new about crochet. She thinks she doesn't know a lot about crochet, but she does.

Here Theresa is showing the right front for her cable sweater, pocket and all. Pretty cool stuff to me since I don't know much about knitting. The WOW factor is sitting on her lap. A dress I refused to photograph because the tie wasn't finished nor the ends woven in yet. It needs to be seen in its finished form!

Pat's Sweater

We haven't talked about Pat's sweater in a long while. But that doesn't mean that she hasn't persevered.
Here she's showing the finished front and two sleeves. The back needs to start shaping the armholes. Not long until she hits that direction called assembly.

Knit One North Has a Wine Tasting Party

Last Thursday, Karen and Chris joined Knit One North for a "wine tasting" party. As you can see the new yarns were placed in wine glasses for everyone to "sample". Karen brought the yarns for us to see at last Saturday's meeting. I thought this was a clever way to show off new yarns.

Donated Lapghans

Joe and Lynn made the trip to the Veteran's Hospital to donate the lapghans seen in the first two pictures. They were quite pleased to receive them and are looking forward to some hats and scarves in the fall.
The larger more colorful afghan was designed by Becky and Lynn and has fringe along the sides that make it a very cheerful 'ghan.

Saturday, March 7

This past Saturday, Joe wore the vest that Becky, his daughter, made for him.
I thought the vest upgraded the suit. I also thought that it was a shame that vests weren't worn more often by guys, because this look was sharp. Besides that Joe had put together the entire outfit quite well.

Surprise Visit

Here you can see from left to right: Rebecca, Mitzi, Pat and Amanda at our last meeting in February. Mitzi lives far enough north of  Pittsburgh to make coming to the meetings regularly a rather long trip.  Like so many of our friends who make a surprise visit.

It was a smaller group than usual, but since Karen took the picture she must have been there, too. I also know that Chris was showing up with a design for a WW II vest pattern for a reenactor. Rebecca better careful besides a cabled sweater for Mike, she might have to crochet something from the Civil War. History buffs are so into authenticity.

I was sorry to miss Mitzi, but maybe she will "pop in" again soon.
