Dyed in the Wool #2 Some Accessories

Everything from a cute little beaded purse, to a heart on a purse, to a nice roomy sack. By the way, that dark red sweater that Karen is wearing is also from Dyed in the Wool and will be at the Ball. How about some snuggly socks or warm gauntlets? Nothing you want? Why not purchase a book for a great asking donation? I found the patterns I made for Amelia's shower in Simple Crochet for Cherished Babies and the items really fit well. No? Don't forget to check out the flip flops (could be your size) and the little pink purse.

Dyed in the Wool

Dyed in the Wool is a yarn shop on Babcock Blvd. in the North Hills. Members of the group from that area shop there.

This year Karen asked them if they could give the Yarn Ball a little support. Wow! Did they come through in a big way. The group was blown away by their generosity.

So to gain some control of all they donated, I've separated items into categories. Please stop by each day for a new installment. Our hat model is Becky who has a hat hairdo. It doesn't matter, she looks good in any hat. And these are all great.

Personal Projects for Babies

In the middle of making things for the Yarn Ball, we still find time for making items for friends and family.

Theresa finished up a darling granny square baby blanket. The photo is from a cell phone and the colors didn't come through true. The pinkish squares are actually white and the green a soft baby shade of green. The motif she chose is really pretty and turned out so nicely in the blanket.

I made the baby sweater and hat for a brand new grand nephew, Jonah Patrick. The crocheted parts are very basic, but I made the cuffs in 1:1 rib. I am not always a fan of crocheted ribbing. Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit adorns the buttons and I added a few carrot buttons to add to the theme.

Cari Sends Us Wonderful Support

Cari Clement from Caron International has sent us a box of goodies that will be available for the Yarn Ball.

These items are from famous name designers in the industry and as you can tell were professionally photographed.

This year we thought it would be a good idea for members to model the items, so everyone could get a better look at the items and see how they looked on a person as opposed to on a table or hanger.

Cari & Caron have been wonderful supporters of our efforts. It really is fun to get an item that was made by your favorite designer.

Hats for Guys at the Yarn Ball

One of the suggestions last year was more things for guys. Joe took the suggestion to heart and made these hats. He has become quite the specialist in slip knitting or perhaps it is called mosaic knitting. Whatever it is called, he is obviously now a specialist of doing it in the round, too. And some lucky men will be able to select a fantastic hat at the Yarn Ball.

A Helmet Liner

Maria is new to the group. She was thrilled that Rebecca could help her with a problem she was having. She just finished the helmet liner this past week. Looks like she did a great job.

The knitters and crocheters of the U.S. have really stepped up to help with this problem. I've read about quite a few groups that are making the liners. Even I made one when Knit One was collecting them.

Maria is a good example of why yarn groups are are a good idea. Stuck? Confused? Someone in the group can probably help or find some help. Want to be involved in a charity project? Our group has donated so many items to so many causes I can't keep count. Then each of us will see that something is needed and they are free to work for that cause on their own. Even personal projects are wonderful to share. But then we're so proud of what everyone accomplished. Of course, that's not to mention all the fun that is had just being together.
