Yona

People always wonder how often they have to come to the meetings to be in the group. Meeting every week can be overwhelming.

Yona comes to the group when ever she can. Of course, we always are really happy to see her AND what new items she has dreamed (nightmared) up. Actually, her creations aren't scary, but really fun.
These two look like feet to me. Happy feet??? But if I keep looking, I start to think space aliens. Either way, wouldn't a child be thrilled with one of these wathchamacallits that look so friendly?

Yona is alway working on something new. She does it to amuse herself. She must laugh alone by herself a lot. Hmmm.

Paulette Keeps Busy

Paulette hasn't been able to get to many 3RC meetings lately. But I knew she was probably making something nice. Her idea of a good day is a lot like mine. Get done what needs to done so I can crochet! (in her case, maybe knit, too).
This afghan was gifted to Paulette's sister. The yarn is Road to China: a blend of alpaca, cashmere, camel, and silk. She says it is really soft (sounds like it). Paulette also says "a dream to work with".   

What a Bargain!

Many times we go shopping, just looking for some great bargains. Peggy found this afghan for $2 at Good Will. She immediately recognized its true worth when someone apparently did not. Well, perhaps it was a situation where they needed to dispose of items and had already received nice afghans from the maker; so they gave it to Good Will. At least, they didn't throw it away. But Peggy knew just what to do with it: donate to Linus Project. That's just what she did!

Unexpected Afghans Winner!

Well, I wrote everyone's email addresses on slips of paper and rolled them into balls. Then I tossed the entire group in front of my cat. I picked up the first one he touched. The winner is Rochelle Glanz.

Unexpected Afghans

The arrival of Unexpected Afghans is very special to me. It marks the first time one of my own designs has been published. On top of that, my design is along side the designs of so many crochet designers whom I just idolize! I was absolutely giddy checking out all their fabulous designs. I'm certain that many people will have trouble deciding which afghan to make.
The real testament as to how cool this book is, comes from my husband. He has been wonderfully patient about my love affair with crochet and usually noncommittal on all things yarn. He said, "It should sell well; there's a lot of nice afghans in this book." Trust me, this is the highest praise!
There is an unbelievable array of color choices, designs, and techniques that surely must satisfy every taste.

Doug Does Hats

Doug has been working on creating hat shapes without a pattern, or trying out some challenging patterns. His latest effort looks like a toque and wasn't really sure where he was going with this design.

He made a top hat for a Victorian style get together. How did he get the stovepipe to stay upright? with plastic canvas.  Plastic canvas is frequently used in purses, totes, etc. to provide stability. Doug has donated the hat to our Holiday Sales event. 

Doug made the newsboy to challenge himself and he was curious how the stitches worked to result in a curve. Sorry we didn't get a picture of the top that would have shown off the design a bit better.

Knitter's Fantasy

Knitter's Fantasy occurs every spring in Youngstown. Created by several knitting guilds in northeast Ohio, they take turns running the conference. A different number of us have attended the last few years to take in some classes and enjoy the yarn market and fashion show. They ask as part of the entrance fee that a hat be donated to a children's shelter. Theresa, Marlene, Karen and Rebecca are holding up the latest hats we brought before adding them to the collection box.
